Vascular & Endovascular Surgery

Dr Igor Banzic

MD PhD, MBBS (Bgd), FEBVS, FRACS

Dr Igor Banzic is a vascular and endovascular surgeon based in Sydney, New South Wales, consulting and operating at North Shore Private Hospital in St Leonards, Kareena Private Hospital in Caringbah and St George Private Hospital in Kogarah. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) and the European Board of Vascular Surgery (FEBVS), and holds a Doctor of Medicine (MD) by research. With more than 22 years of experience, he performs the full spectrum of open vascular surgery and minimally invasive endovascular procedures for arterial, venous, aortic and complex vascular conditions.

Dr Banzic completed advanced fellowship training at Mayo Clinic, Cleveland Clinic, Memorial Hermann Hospital and University Hospital Zurich—among the world’s leading vascular surgery centres. He has authored more than 50 peer-reviewed scientific publications and delivered invited lectures at more than 50 international vascular surgery conferences.

Patients across Sydney—from the Northern Beaches and North Shore to the Inner West, Southern Sydney and regional New South Wales—are referred to Dr Banzic for both routine vascular conditions and complex cases requiring specialist vascular surgical expertise. Interstate referrals are also accepted.

His clinical expertise includes open and endovascular aortic aneurysm repair, carotid surgery, peripheral arterial bypass surgery, limb salvage, diabetic foot surgery, dialysis access surgery, varicose vein treatment, chronic venous insufficiency, deep vein thrombosis (DVT), venous reflux disease, venous interventions and advanced endovascular procedures. Dr Banzic has a particular interest in vascular compression syndromes—including Popliteal Artery Entrapment Syndrome (PAES), Thoracic Outlet Syndrome (TOS), May-Thurner Syndrome and Nutcracker Syndrome—complex conditions that can be challenging to diagnose and often require specialised vascular assessment and surgical management.

Many patients referred to Dr Banzic have already undergone extensive investigations or previous treatment before an underlying vascular condition is identified. Dr Banzic provides a comprehensive assessment to establish an accurate diagnosis and develops an individualised treatment plan—which may include medical management, minimally invasive endovascular treatment or open vascular surgery—tailored to each patient’s condition and goals.

Referrals from general practitioners and medical specialists are welcome. Vascular ultrasound is bulk billed with a valid GP referral.
